To Whom Shall We Go?

To Whom Shall We Go is one of our programmes. At Imisi Ministries, we believe that Christians must begin to identify exactly what it is they believe as Christians and why their worldview is true and reasonable. We must begin to equip ourselves to be able to confidently share our faith in an increasingly secular society hostile to the Christian worldview.
We note that far too many people are gradually drifting away from the truth of God. This is largely as a result of the increasing attack on the sanctity of the Word of God as orchestrated by the enemy. Prevention of access to or distortion or complete denial of the truth of God’s Word is the primary strategy of the Adversary, and it is proving to be incredibly effective. The Father of Lies continues, as he has always done, to promote, as good, what God has forbidden. His objective remains, as ever, to blind the unsaved to the reality of God and to create doubt and division within the Church.
Our programme To Whom Shall We Go is designed to instruct and equip Christians, especially young Christians to not only hold fast to God’s word and the reliability of the Bible but to also grasp the foundational beliefs of the Christian Worldview fully. This will enable them to share their faith effectively while dispelling misconceptions and untruths. After all, Apostle Peter urges Christians to be prepared always to give an answer or defense to everyone who asks us to give the reason for our faith and the hope that we hold on to.
The Programme is made up of four major courses but also consists of discussions on several issues such as Christian Ethics, Reason and Faith, other world religions and the Doctrine of Man. The four major courses are:
- All Things Great and Small
This course looks at the onslaught on the biblical account of the origins of man, his purpose, and ultimate destiny. We will ask foundational questions such as Why do I exist? Why does anything exist? Is there a God who created the universe and me?
We want to search for the truth on origins by examining the claims of the Bible and the claims of those who believe that Evolution is the process by which everything has come into being.
Did man evolve from Ape like creatures as many people claim, or were we created by God in His image and His likeness?
- So That We Are Without Excuse
Today, many still believe that the God of the Bible does not exist. This course will explore the subject of God’s existence by looking into the claims of the Bible regarding His nature, character, and attributes. We will then compare these claims with those of Atheism against the background of reality and our daily experiences.
Are there any other valid reasons, apart from faith, why we ought to believe that God exists? What are some of the objections non-believers raise against the concept of God and the Christian faith as a whole?
We will look at the question of the existence of so much evil, yet we claim to have a God that is loving, kind, and merciful. Is there a contradiction here?
- Did God Really Say?
Our children are assailed daily on TV, on social media, and amongst their friends that the Bible is a book of myths, fables, and mere poetry. They are told that many of the key events of the Bible did not happen and are fictional stories written to pass on moral instruction.
Adam and Eve were not real people but mythical figures. The same thing they are told about Moses, Job, and others including the Lord Jesus Christ. The conclusion is that God does not exist and even if He did, He certainly did not write the Bible.
Is there substance in these claims or is this just another ploy of the Adversary to prevent people from coming to the knowledge of God? Are miracles even possible? This is another area of difficulty for non-believers who point to the talking snake and Donkey or to Jonah and the Whale and other claims of the Bible to discredit the rationality of the Christian faith.
- Are You the Only Stranger in Town?
Some say Jesus never existed while others say he did exist, but He was not like the Jesus presented in the Bible. He was just a simple teacher, a good man, and maybe a prophet who had good things to say about life. Nothing more.
This course will look at these claims from non-Christians. We will ask ourselves questions such as – Was Jesus a historical figure? What is the truth of the Bible’s claims about Jesus? His life, teachings, and Character. His crucifixion, death, and resurrection. Was He both man and God?
We want to find out whether the Apostles and other writers of the New Testament simply fabricated the entire Jesus episode or if the New Testament is a true, accurate, and historical record of first-century events.
